ABOUT US

The Torkard Ensemble is a community music organisation, formed in 2010. We believe that making and hearing live music should be accessible to everyone. We also provide opportunities for local groups and charities to hold fundraising events using music, as well as providing a musical background to events and gatherings in the community.

Membership is open to people from any background, and musical qualifications are not required to join (however, for instrumentalists, a standard of Grade 5 or above is recommended due to the music we play). Some of our choir members don't read music and some are professional musicians - everyone is welcome! Members pay only £8 per month for one group or £15 per month for both groups.

The music that we perform ranges many styles, including classical, rock & pop, musical theatre, jazz and folk. There are opportunities for soloists and smaller groups of singers and instrumentalists too at our Lunchtime Recitals, where we explore different music, on a variety of themes.

As well as our main concerts and recitals, you will find us out and about in the community all through the year. In the past, we have put on performances in aid of My Sight Notts, Forever Stars, Sharewear, Under One Roof, Hope Lea and local groups such as churches and schools, raising up to £750 per concert. Over our lifetime, we've helped to raise thousands for good causes.
